The news has caused Phil Mickelson to cancel two upcoming tournament appearances. The two have been married since 1996, and have three children together, aged 9, 7, and 6.

Amy Mickelson, wife of golfer Phil Mickeslon, has been diagnosed with breast cancer after undergoing testing.

The diagnosis is expected to lead to major surgery in the next two weeks.
Mickelson has canceled the next two tournaments on his schedule, this week’s HP Byron Nelson and next week’s Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, where is the defending champion.

A news release issued today by Phil Mickelson’s agency, Gaylord Sports Management, said Amy Mickelson underwent an extensive battery of tests before the diagnosis. The release said more tests are scheduled, but the treatment process is expected to begin with major surgery, possibly within the next two weeks.

The couple has three children – Amanda, 9, Sophia, 7, and Evan, 6.

Phil Mickelson has suspended his tour schedule indefinitely, the release said. He has withdrawn from this week’s Byron Nelson Championship in Dallas, and he will not defend his title next week at Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas.
