John of God was born on March 8, 1495 was a Portuguese born saint and friar, he was one of Spain’s leading religious figures.He was born in João Cidade in Montemor-o-Novo, Portugal, into a once salient family that was indigent but had great religious trust. John of God’s mother died when he was only a kid and John’s father had joined a monastic order.

As an youngster, John had worked as a shepherd for a farmer who was very delighted with his persevering work and strength. He had an offer to marry the daughter of that farmer and to become the heir to the property, but he declined because he wanted to go after a spiritual life in the service of God.

John moved to Spain, where he served as a soldier under the Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor and he also fought some battles. After many heroic feats, he worked in dispersing the religious books, using the recent transferable type printing press of the Johannes Gutenberg to render people with the Bible.

John og God went through a major religious transition on the Sebastian’s day i.e January 20, while hearing to a sermon by the Saint John of Avila, who was later to become his spiritual wise man and would encourage him in his quest to meliorate the life of the poor & downtrodden. John then went temporarily into what seemed to be a state of madness and was later on thrown into an insane asylum, where John recovered after a visit from the John of Ávila and understood that the poor and needy merited better treatment than he had incurred. He determined to dedicate the rest of his life to caring for the sick and the poor.He died at the age of 55 (March 8, 1550).

Juneteenth, which is also known as the Emancipation Day or the Freedom Day, is a holiday in the U.S honoring the African American heritage by celebrating the announcement of the abolition of slavery in the United State’s State of Texas in the year 1865. Celebrated on 19th June every year and that day is recognized as a state holiday in 37 states of the U.S.The state of Texas is largely considered as the first state in the United States to start Juneteenth celebrations with the informal customary rite taking place for over 100 years, Juneteenth has been an official state holiday since the year 1980. It is considered as a “partial staffing holiday”, meaning that the state offices don’t close but some of the employees will be using a floating holiday to celebrate the Juneteenth, Its observance has spreaded to many states, with few celebrations even taking place in other Nations as well.

Though Mr. Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on 22nd September, 1862, which came into effect on 1st January 1863, it had a small immediate effect on most of the slave’s daily lives, esspecially in the Confederate States of America.

Texas is a part of the Confederacy, was resistant to the Emancipation Proclamation and though that the slavery was very prevalent in the East Texas, it wasn’t as common in the Western areas of the state of Texas, particularly in the Hill Country, where most German Americans were opposed to the slavery practice. Juneteenth commemorates June 18 & 19, 1865. 18th June is the day Union General Mr. Gordon Granger and other 2,000 federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to take the possession of the state and to free the slaves.

Casey Marie Anthony was born on March 19, 1986, Caylee’s mother, has been charged with the first degree murder of her daughter.She was first arrested on July 16, 2008, for giving false statements, neglect of a child, and obstruction of an criminal investigation with a request that she will be held on a no bond status until Caylee Anthony was found.

Casey Anthony was released on August 21, 2008 after a month of incarceration. She was released from the County jail in Orange after Casey Anthony’s $500,200 bond was posted by the California bail bondsman Leonard Padilla.She was arrested again on August 29, 2008, on charges of forgery, fraudulent use of personal information, and petty theft for forging checks of worth $700 and also for using her friend’s credit cards without permission. Leonard Padilla later rescinded the $500,200 in bail due to a lack of co-operation from Casey Anthony.

On 5th September, 2008, Casey Anthony was released again on bail after being fitted with an electronic tracking device.Her $500,000 bond was posted anonymously, and it was later revealed that her parents, Cindy and George Anthony, signed a promissory note for the bond.On October 14, 2008, Casey Anthony was indicted by a grand jury on charges of the first degree murder and was arrested for the 4th time. She is currently in the Orange County Jail awaiting her expected 16th May, 2011 trial date jury selection will start on May 9, 2011, in an undisclosed location.The state attorney’s office in Florida on April 2009 announced that it intended to seek the death penalty.

Palm Sunday is marked by the distribution of palm leaves in many Christian churches to the worshipers gathered in that church. The difficulty of attaining palms for that day’s ceremonies in unfavourable climates for palms led to the permutation of boughs of yew, box, willow or other native trees. The Sunday was frequently entitled by the names of these trees, as the general term Branch Sunday.

The Samsung Galaxy S is meant to be the Korean firm’s big assault on the smartphone market – packing oodles of top end technology into a handset it thinks can take on the iPhone 4.There’s more than just top end technology in here to beat the iPhone – the chassis looks decidedly similar too, despite the much larger four inch screen.

The feel of the frame is in a good way. It’s nearly a millimetre thicker than the iPhone 4 but it doesn’t feel it, thanks to the curved back.The downside of this construction is that it feels a little plasticky, which isn’t the impression you’re going for in a premium smartphone – but it is very light at only 118g.

The chrome bezel looks nice too, but it’s the screen that it frames that really makes the Samsung Galaxy S.While Google is intent on losing the custom overlays on modern Android smartphones, Samsung has finally decided to offer up its own skin for the search engine’s mobile OS.Known as TouchWiz 3.0, this skin is the evolution of efforts from a number of Samsung handsets – sadly most of which were pretty dire to use, with a range of widgets that underperformed compared to the competitors.

This overlay was first used on the Samsung Wave, where new widgets were the order of the day – while these widgets worked well, and 10 home screens was a bonus, on the Galaxy S you get seven displays to work with, and both widgets and icons alike.The latter is great, as it means you can mess around with placement of your favourite applications. However, widgets are less of an attraction, with very few on offer from both Samsung and the default Android offering – certainly you get a lot more from the likes of the HTC Desire.

The interface on the Samsung Galaxy S is more than the large, capacitive touchscreen is just tops. We’re not saying it’s better than the iPhone4, but for someone who’s never picked up a touchscreen phone in their life, this cannot be beaten.The lightest touch will produce an instant reaction, and coupled with the 1GHz processor from Samsung.

While we would have liked to see more from the menu system, you have to hit the ‘Applications’ icon on the Home screen to do more.Another feature we loved about the Samsung Wave was the intuitive menu system, where the most-used applications gradually moved to the top of the pile; sadly missing on the Galaxy S.But the simple icons and pages way of navigating your applications makes sense, seeing as the iPhone 4 has had such runaway success with such a system.
