Rashard Jamal Mendenhall was born on 19th June, 1987, he is an American football who plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Steelers 23rd overall in the year 2008 NFL (National Football League) Draft. He played college football at the Illinois.

Rashard attended Niles West High School and Lincoln Jr. High School at Skokie in Illinois .As a 5-star prospect, he was also rated as the No. 1 recruit in the state of Illinois by Scout.com. He had recorded 1,300 yards and 21 touchdowns as a sophomore. As a junior, he rushed for 1,832 yards and 19 touchdowns, while maintaining an average of 11.6 yards per carry. In his last year, he averaged 9.1 yards per carry, rushing for 1,453 yards on his 160 attempts and 14 touchdowns. Following his good career in the high school level, Rashard played in the 2005 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Rashard Mendenhall was drafted 23rd overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the year 2008 NFL Draft.Prior to his rookie season R Mendenhall was ranked as the 30th best running back in the league by ESPN. On 25th July, 2008, Mendenhall agreed to a 5-year contract worth US$12.55 million with the Steelers, of which $7.125 million is guaranteed. He was expected to be a compliment to Pro-Bowl running back Willie Parker, in addition to the returning kicks. Mendenhall fumbled twice in Pittsburgh’s 3rd pre-season game against the Minnesota; they were attributed to adjusting to the faster pace of the National Football League. Days after the game, teammate Hines Ward placed a ball in Mendenhall’s locker with a note stating that, “Take Mendenhall’s ball away and get $100 from him.” Mendenhall was required to carry that ball everywhere he went until the team’s next game. Mendenhall fumbled once more in the Steelers final pre-season game, but worked with running backs coach Kirby Wilson to fix that problem.

May be you have encountered and seen all the hype, excitement, anger, dismay, joy, hatred, criticism, optimism and other emotions that have surrounded the signing of Miami Heat’s star LeBron James for the NBA season 2010-2011. Was it a personal decision a business decision or mixture of both? Here I will tell you about the great story behind it and few lessons that can be learnt by all businessmen.

The basketball star was approached by many top franchises. It also included Cleveland Cavaliers, his home team, who wanted him desperately. Others were New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks, Miami and Chicago Bulls. Whether it is sports or business, excellent talent is always in demand. Let me remind you here that professional sports like the basketball and football is a huge business for people. And so the recruitment of the players was breaking news. This interested the public to fulfill their interests not for days but for weeks in advance before the decision was carried out. A commercial was set up by the Radio City Music Hall Rockets that was sung by the politicians. Analysis by the financial analysts strongly asserted that he could be the first billionaire athlete if he signed the contract with them.

This announcement was actually an event. You can imagine the pressure that was incredible. ESPN started a show completely on LeBron. This could make things better or worse. In this show, LeBron could explain his decision to everyone on national TV. CNN provided the coverage also apart from other networks. Stakes are high and the stakeholders are in number, coverage is public and interests are large, so the emotion ran greater.

What was with ESPN? It actually needed visibility and to trade the ad time. LeBron stated that he did not require money and he said that he will donate the amount. ESPN is urging to increase their profile and the best way they can do it is by satisfying the great interest of the public. As a matter of fact there are more than 10 million viewers who see it. That includes me.

After the announcement, many individuals became disappointed. There was a fast reaction and it was powerful though. Owner of the Cavaliers, Dan Gilbert, gave a message very openly, disparaging and berating, LeBron with his decision, called him callous and heartless. Many unprofessional comments were made too.

Reginald Martinez “Reggie” Jackson, born on May18, 1946 is called with the nickname as Mr.October for his clutch hit during the post season. He acted as the American earlier Major League Baseball right fielder and played for five different teams during the year 1967 to 1987. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1993. After his retirement only five men had hit more runs than him. He now resides in Carmel, California.

EARLY CAREER OF REGGIE JACKSON:

Reggie Jackson was born in Wyncote, Pennsylvania which is situated in the north of Philadelphia. His father’s name was Martínez Clarence Jackson who acted as a former second baseman with the Newark Eagles of the Negro Leagues. In the family of the Jackson’s, Martinez was the personal name and not a last name and so his grandmother was in liking of the Spanish name and named him as Martinez Clarence. Then, Reggie’s dad named him as Reggie Martinez.

Reggie Jackson expresses his liking of the antique cars as the chain of the auto dealers in the California and so he became one of the foremost traders for sports. He also decided to purchase a major league team and made unsuccessful try to purchase “Athletics and Angels”.

In 2007, ESPN launched a mini-series called “The Bronx is burning” which was all about the 1977 Yankees. It acts as the central part of the storyline and he was portrayed by Daniel Sunjata. In 2008, he threw out the first pitch at the Yankees Opening Day and the last one at Yankee Stadium. He also threw the first pitch at the first game at the new Yankee Stadium which is an exhibition game.

Jackson was an excellent athlete in track, on the football team, in basketball, and in baseball when he entered his senior year at Cheltenham High School. Reggie Jackson was awarded a scholarship from Arizona State University.

Maybe this time he can change the animal to maybe a chicken/hens/cocks and have cock fights!

Well, here is the news today.

Agent Joel Segal confirmed the quarterback’s signing, shortly before the team announced it in a text message. The Eagles gave Vick a one-year deal with an option for a second year.

The 29-year-old Vick, once the NFL’s highest-paid player, has been out of action since 2006. The former Atlanta Falcons star was convicted in August 2007 of conspiracy and running a dogfighting ring, and served 18 of a 23-month sentence in federal prison. He also was suspended indefinitely by the NFL.

Commissioner Roger Goodell conditionally lifted Vick’s suspension on July 27, allowing him to sign with a team, practice and play in the last two preseason games. Once the season begins, Vick can participate in all team activities except games, and Goodell said he would consider Vick for full reinstatement by Week 6 (Oct. 18-19) at the latest.

The story was originally broken Thursday evening by Dan Sileo of WDAE in Tampa. Chris Mortensen followed up a half hour later, during ESPN’s broadcast of Cardinals vs. Steelers. The news has been confirmed by Joel Segal, Vick’s agent.

Per the terms of his current NFL suspension, Vick will be able to practice with Philadelphia, but ineligible to play until the Eagles’ third preseason game. Philadelphia hosts Jacksonville on Thursday, August 27, in what would be the first game action Vick could possibly see.

Beyond that, Vick’s reinstatement is on a “conditional basis,” and his regular-season playing status will be determined by Week 6, if not before.

Unlike most normal people, I actually like and enjoy Tony Kornheiser on television. I’ve been a big fan of Pardon The Interruption for years and Kornheiser’s move into the booth was icing on the cake. ESPN has stuck by him despite the many criticisms but it’s looking like he may leave the booth to focus on his radio show.

DCRTV is hearing more rumblings that Washington Post superstar sports columnist Tony Kornheiser will not be returning to ESPN’s Tony Kornheiser“Monday Night Football” next season. We’re told that Kornheiser wants to focus on his local morning radio show, which resumes on new talker 3WT in January, and on his ESPN “PTI” afternoon TV program. Kornheiser’s decision to give up the “MNF” color spot could cause some hurt feelings at ESPN, which removed sports media rival and former Redskin great Joe Theismann from the “MNF” broadcast booth before this season’s shows started. However, Kornheiser has publicly said that he and Theismann have a friendly relationship.

I don’t think this has anything to do with his radio show, Tony has feelings and is sick of people taking shots at him. You can’t let people get you off your game Tony!!

More from the public about Tony Kornheiser:

He’s great on PTI but sucks on MNF. Plain and simple. Too much chatter and unecessary aguing. I mute him every chance I get during the game. So many others feel the same way. He’s has to go for the sake of the MNF legacy. His presence is one small step better than the unexplainable and famous Dennis Miller experiment ie a total joke in the booth. His general knowledge of the game is just that general and shallow.

He is a waste of time, money. He knows nothing about football and he is so ugly to watch.

Tony Kornheiser Bio:

Tony Kornheiser, columnist for the Washington Post, is also the co-host of ESPN’s popular “Pardon the Interruption” (PTI) show, which he hosts with his Washington Post colleague, Michael Wilbon. A native of Long Island, N.Y., Kornheiser left the New York Times to join the Post in 1979. His radio show aired on ESPN Radio from January 1998 until this past spring. PSR editor Tony DeFazio spoke with Kornheiser recently.
