The Samsung Galaxy S is meant to be the Korean firm’s big assault on the smartphone market – packing oodles of top end technology into a handset it thinks can take on the iPhone 4.There’s more than just top end technology in here to beat the iPhone – the chassis looks decidedly similar too, despite the much larger four inch screen.

The feel of the frame is in a good way. It’s nearly a millimetre thicker than the iPhone 4 but it doesn’t feel it, thanks to the curved back. The downside of this construction is that it feels a little plasticky, which isn’t the impression you’re going for in a premium smartphone – but it is very light at only 118g.

The chrome bezel looks nice too, but it’s the screen that it frames that really makes the Samsung Galaxy S.While Google is intent on losing the custom overlays on modern Android smartphones, Samsung has finally decided to offer up its own skin for the search engine’s mobile OS.Known as TouchWiz 3.0, this skin is the evolution of efforts from a number of Samsung handsets – sadly most of which were pretty dire to use, with a range of widgets that underperformed compared to the competitors.

This overlay was first used on the Samsung Wave, where new widgets were the order of the day – while these widgets worked well, and 10 home screens was a bonus, on the Galaxy S you get seven displays to work with, and both widgets and icons alike. The latter is great, as it means you can mess around with placement of your favourite applications. However, widgets are less of an attraction, with very few on offer from both Samsung and the default Android offering – certainly you get a lot more from the likes of the HTC Desire.

The interface on the Samsung Galaxy S is more than the large, capacitive touchscreen is just tops. We’re not saying it’s better than the iPhone4, but for someone who’s never picked up a touchscreen phone in their life, this cannot be beaten. The lightest touch will produce an instant reaction, and coupled with the 1GHz processor from Samsung.

While we would have liked to see more from the menu system, you have to hit the ‘Applications’ icon on the Home screen to do more.Another feature we loved about the Samsung Wave was the intuitive menu system, where the most-used applications gradually moved to the top of the pile; sadly missing on the Galaxy S.But the simple icons and pages way of navigating your applications makes sense, seeing as the iPhone 4 has had such runaway success with such a system.

The advancement in the technology is day to day increasing. In this series of the development in technology, the apple has newly launches its iPad. As the Apple last time launched its iPhone, therefore the expectation of the techno lovers was too high. The iPad has a 9.7 inch LCD touch screen display, which makes the use of the multi-touch technology that was also found in the iPhone.

It also has a finger-friendly OS with an on-screen keyboard and an accelerometer that detects whether the device is in landscape or portrait mode. These features are same as the iPhone and the iPod. The iPad also has s 3-pin dock connector device, a built-in Wi-Fi and a home button to jump back to the main screen of the OS. Just like the iPhone it also has a volume rocker and a mute button.

But as there many reviews show this Apple’s iPad disappointed to its lovers. CNET also reviewed on this iPad. They say that iPad has potential a lot but it still needs some other improvements on the aspect of being it a personal computer. The iPad is actually a product still in search of the market. The iPad has a kind of the poorly implemented features and the poorly articulated according to the market makes it the disappointing gazette for the gazette lovers.

This iPad comes in different memory capacities and the different prices. As this iPad is costly having the range of US$499 to US$966 and having many disappointing features, no one wants to buy them on such prices. CNET gives further reviews about this iPad that this is just a bigger iPhone that can not make a phone call. The Apple’s iPad is still missing a lot of features like multitasking, 16.9 resolution, USB ports, GPS and the SD Card support in it.

According to Apple, almost every current iPhone application will run – unmodified – on the iPad. Judging from the images we have seen so far, however, the iPad just scaled these apps up to the large screen, which doesn’t necessarily look extremely well. Games, though, seem to look extremely well on the large screen. Apple simply scales the graphics up and makes them

Apple plans to release a new SDK today that will make it easy for developers to make use of the large screen.

Hours of fun in other words. Each triggered step causes a force on the underlaying wave-map, which makes it more cute.

If that sounds complex, then go ahead and click here, then draw something on the grid. It’s far easier to understand if you just give it a try.

There’s a sophisticated synth running in the background. It’s possible to make loops that sound pretty awesome. What would be even more awesome is if you could adjust the BPM on the fly.

Its got ‘iPhone App’ written all over it ! Oh wait! There is an Iphone Tonematrix app already…Soundmatrix!

John Holdsworth’s SoundMatrix (App Store link) is a free iPhone version of the ToneMatrix Flash Application, by Andre Michelle, that allows you to create music sequences on your iPhone.

SoundMatrix builds on ToneMatrix, though, letting you email your creations to your friends or submit them to an online gallery.

If you give SoundMatrix a try, leave a comment here with your thoughts!

Description:

SoundMatrix is a 16 note sine wave sequencer. There is also a two track drum kit to bring your compositions to life.

Tap on the display to add notes to the sequence. For Best results add individual notes gradually to build your composition. Tap undo remove the last notes added or clear to start again. To save a composition use the email button to send it to yourself for posterity.

If you name your composition it can also be uploaded to the public gallery for rating.

Update: iPhone 3.0 is available! Go update your iPhone now! Link: http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/

Yup. Today is the day.
Keep an eye on this Link: http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/

If you go to Apple’s actual U.S. website, you’ll see that the launch here is still slated for sometime today. So ignore the tweets that are undoubtedly filing up your screen right now. iPhone 3.0 will be released at some point today — though those hoping for a midnight launch were disappointed — and the iPhone 3G S will be out on Friday.

A host of added features come with this upgrade, in time with the release of the iPhone 3G S in a few days time. Among these are the following: Recent Calls now shows more details (call length, etc); Ability to change/set “own number” (my number) in the SIM Card. Will be displayed in the Contacts list and iTunes, as well as possibly used for MMS identification.
Here is a brief list of some of the biggest updates:

•Cut, Copy and Paste: Amazing as it seems, this relatively simple tool
has not been available for the iPhone. With the 3.0 update users will now be able to copy text and pictures, then paste them anywhere system-wide.

•Push Notifications: This feature has long been promised, but Apple has yet to deliver. Push essentially permits background processing capabilities. Meaning, apps will always be on and will update in real-time.

•Landscape keyboard: Now users will have the ability to type in landscape mode when writing emails.

•MMS: Finally you’ll be able to use MMS and send pictures through your iPhone! This application will take the place of the SMS app and will even allow users to send voice memos.

•Peer-to-Peer connectivity: With this iPhone users will be able to find each other over Bluetooth or wifi connections. This can be used for anything, from gaming to sharing data.

•Spotlight searching: This app will be introduced into the home screen. There will be a magnifying glass that you flick. Once it opens simply type in what you are looking for and the software will retrieve it.

I’ve listed only a couple of the 100+ features. I didn’t even touch some of the unique apps that will be roll out this summer (like turn-by-turn GPS). Although you will have to wait to download the update, I’ll provide instructions now so you can be prepared for when update 3.0 launches.
