On April 5th, 2010, there happened a worst coal mine explosion, at Massey Energy underground coal mine in Raleigh country, situated about 48 kilometers from Charleston. The disaster took place around 3 PM in a chamber 1000 feet below ground killing at least 25 people and leaving 4 missing.

This was approximately 25 kilometers from the Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti on Tuesday, 12 January 2010.
