The scientific name of degos disease is malignant atrophic papulosis. The disease cause clots in various small and medium sized arteries in our body. The disease is caused when the cells in the inner linings of the artery walls swell, and block the free blood flow.

Some of the symptoms of degos disease are as follows:

• Development of rashes on the skin is one of the initial symptoms. The pink or red papules measure approximately 2 to 15mm. These develop slowly. Once the rashes heal, you can see scars with white center. The patient may feel itching.
• The patient may develop problems related to digestion, visual impairment and problems related to nervous systems.
• Often the patient feels nauseated, constipated, get cramps in the stomach, diarrhea, vomiting etc.
• Droopy eyelids
• Chest pain
• Weakness
• Short breath

What causes Degos Disease?

The cause of Degos disease is still a mystery. The incidence of the disease is common amongst women, as compared to men. It can affect to a person irrespective of the age. Thankfully, degos is a rare disease.

How Is Degos disease diagnosed?

The rashes of this disease help in diagnoses of the disease. Although there are no direct laboratory tests to determine degos diseases, doctors may decide to do MRI or endoscopy to check gastrointestinal tract or other body parts.

How is degos disease treated?

Till date, the researchers have failed to come up with treating the degos disease. There is neither any treatment available, nor is there remedy to subdue the symptoms. In case you are severely affected by the disease, you should contact gastroenterologists, dermatologists, or ophthalmologists, depending on the symptoms of the disease. In extreme cases, where the patient suffers from gastrointestinal bleeding, then the doctors may recommend surgery.
