We all know Betty for her determination to meet her goal. Smart, dedicated and creative Betty is back in season 4, this time with a noble cause.
This season, the prime episode will telecast ‘Nothing But Nets’. This campaign is regarding creating awareness about malaria and is backed by the UN.
Each year more than one million people are killed by malaria; most of those affected are children. In this episode, bed nets treated with insecticides is taken to sub Saharan African region.
The whole idea of the episode is to create an awakening amongst the viewers, so that they donate this bed nets and help in protecting the lives of people in Sub Saharan Africa.
The episode was shot in August. The cast and crew could instantly strike a chord with the storyline. UN received an overwhelming response from the team of Ugly Betty. Each one present felt that they were supporting an extremely important cause.
The UN understands the role and popularity of entertainment industry and wants to reach to millions through this medium. Therefore, it opened Creative Community Outreach Initiative, headed by Ban Ki-Moon, the Secretary General. The primary aim of this wing is to collaborate with the entertainment industry to spread awareness on various issues. As a stepping stone, it uses platform provided by “Ugly Betty’ to spread message and receive aid for preventing malaria.
You can view this premiere episode of ‘Ugly Betty season 4’ on October 16. The episode will last for two hours.
