What’s wrong with you, Cheyenne Cherry ?

17-year-old Cheyenne Cherry was sentenced today to one year in prison after she put a kitten in a oven, set at 200 degrees and let the kitten die a horrible death.

Tiger Lily (the cat) was minding her own business, probably sitting in the window, on a small cushion, watching the people out her owner, Valerie Hernandez’s, window. Kittens don’t need much, they sleep most of the day, can rarely finish an entire can of wet cat food in a week, and often they’re litter box trained from day one, so only a few small messes to clean up. Tiger Lily looks like one of the good ones. No alley cat here, you can see several years of love and affection from this cat to any human who provides her a bit of care and attention.

Cheyenne Cherry decided that was not cool. She doesn’t like cats, she doesn’t like her former roommate. She and her friends broke into the apartment, trashed the place and decided that they were going to cook this kitten in a stove. They fled the apartment with DVDs and containers of noodles as their only schwag, and Cheyenne had this to say for herself and her friends actions, “(we) thought we would play a joke on Valerie and mess up her apartment.”

After pleading guilty to charges of animal cruelty and attempted burglary on Wednesday, 17-year-old Cheyenne Cherry confronted a row of animal activists outside the courtroom. Cherry stuck out her tongue and told the activists that the kitten named Tiger Lily was “dead.”

Cherry said little Tiger Lily was killed during “a practical joke” – the same excuse she gave for shoving a gun in the robbery victim’s face last year, cops said.

“It was just a joke,” Cherry said after her arrest for robbing a man of his iPod at gunpoint. She pleaded guilty to robbery and got five years probation.

Cherry also had a 2007 arrest for smacking a girl in the head with jewelry, police said.

Cherry, now charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, arson, burglary and criminal mischief, is a dog owner who loves pets, her brother insisted.

“My sister is no cat killer,” said David Cherry. “Cheyenne is not an animal hater. She has a little Yorkie that she loves.”

I’m not an animal rights activist, but what this girl did is just plain SICK. And the fact that she thinks it’s funny is even SICKER.
