Who is Stephanie Mills?

Stephanie Mills is the American Grammy Award winning R&B and the soul singer. She is also a former Broadway star and was awarded a title as “the little girl with the big voice”. Stephanie Mills was born on March 22, 1957 in Brooklyn, NY.

Mills started her career in her first play at the age of 9. And after the two years later she won a record six times, the Amateur Night, at the world-famous Apollo Theater. By this great victory, she became the cast of her first Broadway role. She had many R&B hits like “I feel good all over”, “I have Learned to Respect the Power of Love”, “(You’re puttin’) A Rush On Me”, “Something in the way (You Make Me Feel)”, “Home” and many more with one certified single “Never Knew Love Like This Before”.

She also had five gold albums in addition to it: Whatcha Gonna Do With My Lovin’, Stephanie, If I Were Your Woman, Sweet Sensation and Home. Mill’s musical career started as she opened for the Ishley brothers in 1973. In 1975 Stephanie Mills won the role of Dorothy in The Wiz. The cast recordings for The Wiz were actually produced by Jerry Waxler.

In 1975, Stephanie Mills’ career took a great rise when mills portrayed Dorothy in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz entitled The Wiz, This she also started dating with Michael Jackson. Very soon she followed the success with Sweet Sensation in 1980’s which offered Mills a biggest hit to date. First single album from the Stephanie Mills was the “Stand Back”, in late 1985. This also included the “I Have Learned to Respect the Power of Love”. In a recent interview she stated that she would be releasing her live CD during the end of the year, which includes two new tracks.
