Heather O’Rourke was a popular American child actress, who is remembered for her role in Poltergeist film as Carol Anne Freeling. She also featured in television shows as a guest.

Steven Spielberg found Heather when she was having lunch with her mother on the sets of Pennies from Heaven. Heather’s elder sister Tammy was cast in the film.
Soon, Spielberg signed Heather for the horror film, Poltergeist. At the time, she was just 5 years old. At the tender age of 5, she played the role of girl who is targeted by supernatural powers.
Heather acted so well that she was acclaimed by one and all. Moreover, she was the only actress to have worked in all the three series as Carol.
Heather appeared in various television shows and TV movies after 1982, such as Believe You Can … and You Can! Webster, CHiPs, Our House, etc. She also acted in television movies Surviving and Massarati and the Brain.
Then in early 1987, Heather was not keeping too well and was taken to Kaiser Permanente Hospital. There, doctors misdiagnosed her to be suffering from Crohn’s disease. The medicines given her to cure Crohn’s disease caused reaction.
January 31, 1988 was the day, when once again, Heather was sick. She was vomiting continuously. On 1st February, she collapsed, as she was being taken to the hospital. Paramedics were called. On her way to the hospital, she suffered a heart attack. After she was resuscitated, she was taken to the hospital by helicopter to the hospital in San Deigo. But, she did not survive.
The reports about the cause of her death were changed many times, and ultimately, the reports said that Heather died of cardiac arrest.
A beautiful girl, a talented actress and a child prodigy could not fight her destiny. She will always be fondly remembered as Carol.
